FirstAttribute wins project "Active Directory Redesign"
On November 15, 2010 FirstAttribute gained the contract for the
"Active Directory (AD) Redesign" and "AD Consolidation" from an
internationally known company in the chemical industry.
The concern ran five independent Active Directory domains with
about 5,000 users. In the conception phase of the project, the
existing Active Directory was redesigned. Main reasons for the
project were increased security requirements. The aim was to create
a secure, highly available and efficient Active Directory
After the conclusion of the concept-phase, ending with a POC
(Proof of Concept), the realization of the Active
Directory migration followed.
Technologically speaking, the following Microsoft products are
- Windows 2008 R2 DCs
- AGPM (Advanced Group Policy Manager)
- System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
- Windows 2008 R2 RODC (Read Only Domain Controller)
For the Active Directory migration tool QMM AD and for the Exchange
migration QMM Exchange were used.
The choice of the project partner was done during a two-step
tender. The decision for FirstAttribute AG was made because
of the employees' deep knowhow in the areas of Active Directory and
migration. With the help of different reference projects,
the specialized knowledge could be proven.
