Brains on Silicon 2025: AI Meets Identity in Dresden
In October, part of the FirstAttribute team had the exciting opportunity to attend the Brains on Silicon AI conference, right in the heart of Dresden. ??
For us, it wasn’t just an inspiring dive into the world of artificial intelligence, it was also a bit of a home game. After all, this AI conference brought together many of Saxony’s leading innovators right on our doorstep.
The moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere was electric: this was a gathering of people passionate about the future. From research institutes and start-ups to tech giants like Google and Microsoft, the energy was contagious. The focus wasn’t on crafting the perfect prompt, but on leveraging AI responsibly and effectively where it creates real value.
Many speakers shared concrete examples of how AI is already transforming businesses: from process automation to data analytics to entirely new business models. For us as IAM specialists, these discussions were not only inspiring but also highly relevant to our work.

Diversity, vision, and countless “Aha” Moments
AI is no longer just a buzzword, it’s a reality. From energy providers like bank or energy suppliers to global tech players, every organization presented its own vision for how intelligent systems can simplify or even reinvent processes.
For the FirstAttribute team, this was incredibly motivating. We’ve been working with AI for years, not just in theory, but actively in everyday operations, from automating internal workflows to exploring how AI is already shaping modern IAM.
Our goal is simple: integrate AI meaningfully into our identity management solutions to genuinely lighten the load for companies. But one principle remains central: security and trust.
One topic that stood out at the conference was the management of non-human identities (NMI). AI agents, bots, and systems are already making decisions, analyzing data, and triggering actions, which raises an important question:
How do you manage identities that aren’t human, but still make decisions?
Non-Human Identities (NMI): An IAM challenge
A particularly impressive session was presented by John Paul Li from Google, discussing “non-human identities”. He explored how machines and AI agents are increasingly taking responsibility, a topic directly relevant to us as IAM experts. When AI acts autonomously, its access, roles, and permissions must be carefully managed, just like those of human users.
From Chatbots to AI Agents
Many sessions highlighted that we’re at the start of a new era. Chatbots are now commonplace, they answer questions and assist in support. But the next generation is arriving: AI agents that can independently handle tasks, learn, and even prepare decisions. This is where we at FirstAttribute see immense potential.
We are actively exploring how intelligent agents can support identity and access management (IAM): for example, by automating user requests, suggesting appropriate permissions, or detecting anomalies before risks arise.
For us, one thing is clear: AI is not a trend, it’s a powerful lever for efficiency and security.
Microsoft & AI: Opportunities for modern IAM
As specialists in the Microsoft ecosystem, the Microsoft-focused sessions were particularly relevant.
Topics like AI integration in Microsoft 365, automation in hybrid environments, and connecting IAM with modern AI services offer direct value to our customers. We see great opportunities to combine Microsoft innovations with our solutions like IDM-Portal and my-IAM. Our aim: reduce workload for IT administrators, automate processes, and manage identities more intelligently, always with the highest levels of security and traceability.
Innovation you can experience
Another highlight: the live demos and developer discussions. Some tools were experimental, others impressively advanced. There was even a small robot interacting with attendees. A charming reminder of how close AI has become to humans. As an IAM provider, we aim to integrate these technologies actively and responsibly: hybrid, cloud-based, and always with security front and center.
Key Takeaways
After two intensive days, it was clear: Brains on Silicon 2025 was far more than an industry event. We left with new ideas, concrete solutions, valuable contacts, and the reassurance that Saxony has a vibrant, innovative tech community to be proud of.
We are convinced: the future of identity and access management will be defined by two things: trust and intelligence. AI can unite both, if used responsibly.
Conclusion
Dresden has shown with Brains on Silicon that innovation is at home here. For us at FirstAttribute, attending was both inspiring and motivating. We will leverage these insights to further develop our solutions, IDM-Portal and my-IAM, and apply AI’s potential in a targeted, secure, and practical way.
